Shit. Motherfucking shit. So I woke up about two hours ago and just now discovered that I'm missing a significant part of my chewing surface. The good news is that I'm not in pain yet. It's not a complete surprise--it's one of the teeth (well, half a one now) that the dentist started work on before when I could afford dentistry and didn't get finished before I was fired, and it's been a problem spot ever since.

EDIT: So if you dream about losing teeth, you're worried about money issues, according to the Universal Dream Interpreter stuff. So if you lose teeth, will you dream about money?

In other news: I work with monkeys. Also, if you give a man a fish he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish he becomes annoyed that you're wasting his time and why don't you give him the motherfucking fish already because he's hungry god damnit.

I am looking at about $3,000 worth of dental work ahead of me and I currently don't have any insurance...
...I had to get $1,000 of it done IMMEDIATELY...
...I know the feeling.

To prolong the lack of pain and emergency dental work, do what my dentist told me to do... it really worked!

After brushing, rinse and gargle with listerine for 30 seconds...
Rinse out mouth than gargle with ACT Fluoride rinse for a minute. Don't eat or drink for 30 minutes after rinsing with the fluoride rinse.

That made a tooth that was destined for a root canal actually survive long enough that it doesn't need it now. :)

I'll have to look into that. Once I stop hyperventilating. The not eating will be tricky and require reorganizing my schedule somewhat. (:

So does Skywest not have dental insurance?

Having ignored teeth issues until they were a problem...I would strongly recommend putting off any major-but-unnecessary purchases and getting the dental work done. Living in constant mouth pain sucks like few things in this world do.

yeah, not having my coffee until 30 minutes after I wake up kinda got me a bit, but hey... drink the coffee before :)

Oh. And if you need to work out some kind of rent plan which would allow you to be able to get this done upfront but pay me back down the road, we can discuss that.

My fiance swears up and down from experience that the crazy people walking up and down the streets in major cities (Las Vegas) and the like are not cray, but have tooth pain that makes them crazy...

I guess I have been lucky so far that none of my teeth have decided to explode on me.

As I once heard my fiance say: "If you ignore them, they *WILL* go away."

I'm on Delta, but it covers like 40/60% of costs which still means a big chunk. Which is why I've been trying to pretend I don't have teeth. Because I know that as soon as I walk in they're going to tell me there's ten thousand dollars worth of work that needs to be done before I can even think of leaving the office oh and by the way you know that little sign all the dentist offices have that says "We expect to be paid up front" that I've never seen anywhere else?
Yeah. A little stressed. I'll be better in a while.

I'm going to try and get my shit together, make some breakfast, get showered, and go to the dentist there by CostCo and try to get some information on when they can tell me how awful my mouth is.

There's a business card for the dentist that [livejournal.com profile] lil_m_moses and [livejournal.com profile] silkblade use and love. Might want to try to call her as well?

So. Fucking. True. Mind if I quote you?

If this dentist has a waiting room full of hotties, I'm glad to give hir a call. I didn't see the card on the fridge--is it in the living room somewhere?

No, it's definitely on the fridge somewhere. It's been there for a while. :)

But, mostly I would call and ask them how much a consultation might run and when is the earliest they could fit you in for an emergency condition.
