Back when I was in high school, our choir took a tour and on this tour I found a little mall-shop-like thing where you could record a karaoke style performance. I have no reason to believe such places do not still exist, but I haven't seen one since then. Does anybody know of such a thing?
And I'm finally starting work on the 'really sick and twisted love songs' mix, inspired by listening to 'Every Breath You Take' by the Police. However, I do not have any of the occasional lists I've made of appropriate songs, and thought perhaps my friends here had suggestions. Important to note: the accidentally creepy nature of the songs is important, so something like 'Run for Your Life' by the Beatles is a far better choice than 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Creepy love songs? I've always thought that Tina Turner's "Private Dancer" qualified. I mean, have you listened to the lyrics? Brrrr. I will, however, accept the argument that it's more of an anti-love song.

I remember those little "record it yourself" studios. I even have a couple of cassettes lying around that I did (she says, hastily looking around to see if she needs to hide the evidence). I haven't seen one in forever, though; I figured that royalties and copyright issues drove them the way of dodo.

I did one of those mall karaoke dealies once...

Thankfully? It didn't work. I wasted $5, and got the tape of the music- my voice was missing. Now I'm glad.

I'm pretty sure there's still one a Pier 49.

And don't forget Sarah McLaughlin's "Possession"

Yeah, I really like it, but it falls into the 'intentional' category seeing as she wrote it based on a bunch of letters she got from a Creepy Stalker Fan Guy.

Invisible - that Clay Aiken song. If "if I was invisible, I would watch you in your room" isn't creepy as hell, I don't know WHAT is.

I'm not familiar with it, but it sounds like a winner. (:

Night and Day It's a Cole Porter tune, so there are any number of versions, but my favorite for this purpose is by U2 on the "Red Hot & Blue" Cole Porter tribute album. This version is very intense and Bono sounds like a stalker. If you'd like, I can send it to you so that you can hear it.

Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall
Like the drip drip drip of the raindrops
When the summer shower is through
So a voice within me keeps repeating you, you, you

I love Red Hot and Blue.
Well. I love about half of it, but I *really* love that half. (: And yeah, that'd probably work.

If it was, I stole it and will release a rushed, inferior product like Fox TV's 'Trading Spouses'.
