ME TOO!!! That's why I studied Aerospace Engineering for 3.5 years, and was half way to an appointment at the Airforce Academy before I realized I'm not really the military type. :D

What's even more bizarre is the possibility of doing some part time work for NASA Ames now. :D

This sounds fascinating, but I have no idea what that ratio represents. If it's a ratio.

It represents size. Full sized instruments are 4/4. It goes down from there. 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, etc. I used to think 1/64 was as small as they get.

That's... quite miniscule. Wow. So a two-thousand to one ratio would mean an instrument considerably smaller than one inch in length. Somewhat difficult to play.

This is easy as we only just met. So...

... I have spent the last two years training myself to like raw tomatoes. Success is partial: I can now eat them without gagging, and have found some that are almost pleasurable, but there's still an extremely small window for "acceptable raw tomato."

I'm thinking of transferring my efforts over to olives.

Bleh.

off topic entirely, but what does a heptagram (septagram?) represent?

Yes, well, I wanted to start you off easy, so as not to scare you away.

I have spent the last two years training myself to like raw tomatoes.
Tomatoes are nasty things until they have been taught their place. Which is baked with oregano and basil on a bed of cheese and pasta. But this weekend, I had a quesadilla where I only picked out most of the tomatoey chunks.

I was getting weird 'lost twin' echoes until we got to the bit about olives. I've always loved black olives, and am learning to respect green olives.

I don't think the ratios directly corolate to inches. The smallest were quite tiny, but probably just right for a toddler or baby. If you could train such a creature not to destroy the instrument.

Nope. I've got too many of you guys stuffed and mounted on my wall already.

Actually, I'm quite the pinko (relatively) these days. My father would be shocked. I have friends in Iraq, and I understand the military mindset...but I have my own mind and it sees multiple sides.

:) Thanks.

I've only ever been force-fed tried over-brined green olives. When I rinse them I enjoy them.

And I love cooking with olive oil.

Maybe this won't take so much effort, then... What's the difference in tastes, then?

Well, as I shop the upscale yuppie marts, I discover that there are an infinite variety of olives. I have not tried a great variety of them, but many of them seem briny enough that they should not be eaten alone. Black olives, in a most general way, taste.... darker, I suppose. Green olives have a brighter flavor. Yes, that'll do.
