You get a belated Friday Ask Me a Question post!

Hoo Hoo!

Remember back in the day when the television network TBS used to start programs at 5 minutes and 35 minutes past the hour? I always thought that was annoying. Why did they do that? When and why did they stop?

When we fly from Denver to Phoenix for Christmas, can I bring a luna bar from home onto the plane? Also, what book to bring?

I keep meaning to ask... what's with the Shakespeare thing? You frequently mention traveling to festivals and performances. Do you work them? Are you part of the productions? Just a fan?

I used to act (My big roles were in Much Ado and Taming of the Shrew but there were still small) but now I just attend. This is my annual trip to Ashland, and I usually shoot for the first week of October because that's the first week of post-season reduced price tickets.

Actually, they did it deliberately to annoy you. Somebody told them you weren't paying attention any more and Ted said "Screw it, don't bother any more."

Are you storing more than three ounces of fluid in the center of the Luna Bar?
Just one book? I'd recommend something by Nicola Griffith, but that's mostly because I read her first two books years ago and just picked up her latest two and so I have her on the brain.
Also, Harlan Ellison, Alison Weir, P.G. Wodehouse, Jane Austen, Jim Butcher, Joan and Vernor Vinge, and of course those authors with whom I am personal friends: Jess Hartley, C.E. Murphy/Cate Dermody, Fred Hicks, Sierra Black/Sara Dennis and Lilith Saintcrow.
(If I forgot anybody they will kick me in the shins.)

More seriously they did it to promote lock in--if your show finished at 05, you were likely to stay with them AND to get channel surfers as they gave up on other shows.

I always find it a good question to try and ask myself, where do I want to be in 2-3 years. (personally; professionally; etc.)

What are you doing this weekend? (I've had a BAD week and would like to stop thinking about it.)

S**T

The above was me.

Why are Macs so stupid?

I just had my Sunday cinema engagement cancel, so aside from working Saturday and possibly the Sunday evening viewing of BattleStar Galactica I have a pretty open schedule. I think Tersa's mom is in town, and that will likely have some impact on somebody's schedule, possibly mine.

Dang, usually you can contain your wealth of Friday questions to a single entry. Today they spill out into multiple postings!
Macs aren't so much stupid as they think they're very smart and you're stupid. They make a lot of assumptions about you and don't listen to you when you try to tell them differently. It's a habit that MicroSoft has absorbed, much as they absorb other attributes of successful software. Steve McQueen recommends spraying them with a fire extinguisher and then chopper-lifting them to Antarctica.

If you have entertainment duties with housemate, by all means go forth and be charming and witty!

If you would like to hide in my cave (apartment) and pretend the outside world doesn't exist, give me a call, email, the Bat Sign, whatever.

Sorry, darling, but the question only became pertinent with the required follow up post. (Or should I not assume you would take up a stranger on his/her offer of a weekend rendez-vous?)

Isn't Steve McQueen dead?

Why is Chicago so awesome?

It's movie magic. Chicago was not awesome at all, originally. I mean, how awesome can shoulders really be? There's a reason Upton Sinclair wrote depressing books about the place. But in the late seventies Dan Akroyd and John Belushi filmed "The Blues Brothers" there, making it mostly cool. Ten years later, John Hughes' "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" completed the job and made Chicago totally awesome.

I do not believe I will be called upon to entertain her mom. I also am uncertain how her mom feels about charming or witty.
Some cave lurking may well be in order.

I like to think that I am wild and live on the edge, and thus making assumptions about me is ***dangerous*** (woo!).
Steve McQueen is dead, but in exchange for me answering some of his Friday questions he has agreed to speak in advisory capacity for some of these questions from beyond the grave.
From: [identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com
That's part of a lot of my stress right now, probably; trying to figure out that answer. I'm starting a process to make myself more financially stable. In two or three years I hope to have that path either laid out or completed.
I want to feel financially secure. I would not mind feeling emotionally secure, but the plans on that end are a little more vague.
