So I imagine people following my journal remotely would be disappointed if I didn't mention that at 22:00:29 there was an earthquake in Gilroy that measured 5+ on the Richter scale.
But honestly I was more affected by the fact that I couldn't get the damn cat out of my bedroom before I had to leave for work this morning. Caused more damage, too. But apparently at around seven o'clock he got it into his head to listen to Peter Murphy and turned on my mp3 player.

The announcers of the hockey game mentioned this. And since they were from the East, they made a whole big flippin' deal about it. I thought they were highly amusing. You are becoming a true Californian, who doesn't give a flying fig about earthquakes unless they knock bookcases over and crumble freeway overpasses. I hope all your bookcases are bolted to your walls. My aren't, and if the Big One hits I'll loose my stereo. But I'm also a native Californian, so the Big One won't happen in my lifetime. ;-

That's what I keep telling people. They don't believe me.
True Californian reaction to an earthquake:
1) enh? What's all that? oh, an earthquake
2) How big was it, and where?
3) Anyone hurt?
4) (yes) - aw, shit. (no, or just minor property damage) - WOO, nice one!

No bolted bookcases, but thanks for reminding me I should finally get around to doing that. ;)

I was just thinking that last night, that I need to track down all those little thingies for the Billy bookcases, and firmly attach them in the (hopeful) upcoming house.

I'm not sure what I think of the cat's taste.

where is your mp3 player that he got to it at 7 o'clock?

Peter Murphy is certainly a credit to the little scavenger's tarnished reputation.
When I could not get the weasel out of my room in the morning, I left the door open to prevent the sort of damages that occurred last time he got closed into my room all day. Then I went gardening after work and wasn't home until after sundown. Thus, with my bedroom door open, he probably wandered across the keyboard sometime that evening and set the wheels in motion.

The cat has excellent taste. After all, he likes both Peter Murphy and hanging out with Ro.

shaken, but not stirred
