cyrano: (E is for...)

I think I missed the stone. Urine is clear, there's little to no pain. Hopefully Dr. Lin can offer some useful advice even without the hard evidence.

The lady in the next bed over from mine yesterday was talking with the intake nurse about her leg giving her trouble. When asked about the pain, on a scale of one to ten, she said "Oh, I'd say a seven or an eight."
Now, when I'd reported a seven earlier that morning, I did it through clenched teeth and with an interruption or two for breath. She reported it casually as if talking about what she had for breakfast. Either our scales differ significantly or she has amazing pain management.

I hit 10 the day my teaching assistant picked me up off the floor and took me to the ER and I couldn't tell them how much it hurt. The rest of the time I had Ehd (The Evil Headache of Doom) it was generally between a 4 and 6. When it hit 7 is when one of my wonderful friends would drive me to the ER for drugs.

At a 4, I was somewhat distracted, but still able to work. At a 6, I sat in the corner of my classroom, and the students whispered and asked the aids for help.

By the time Ehd was averaging 1 - 2, I thought the world was a beautiful place again. Pain is strange.
