I think I missed the stone. Urine is clear, there's little to no pain. Hopefully Dr. Lin can offer some useful advice even without the hard evidence.

The lady in the next bed over from mine yesterday was talking with the intake nurse about her leg giving her trouble. When asked about the pain, on a scale of one to ten, she said "Oh, I'd say a seven or an eight."
Now, when I'd reported a seven earlier that morning, I did it through clenched teeth and with an interruption or two for breath. She reported it casually as if talking about what she had for breakfast. Either our scales differ significantly or she has amazing pain management.

I can hit a 7 on the pain scale and still make dinner for the kids before popping percocet and dying.

Yep.

When you have chronic pain, it's a whole different ballgame. You learn to deal with it, because otherwise, you'd never get anything done. I can be in sheer fucking agony and still get through an exhibit opening at work with a smile on my face, with no one the wiser.

Yup.

I was accused of drug seeking because I walked into an ER claiming I was in terrible pain, a 6-8 on the pain scale depending on how I moved. Because I was able to speak, they didn't believe me. When they saw my 7mm and 4mm kidney stones on the CT scan they rushed me dilauded!

Chronic pain is awful, but you learn how to deal. I have fibromyalgia and some neuropathy. :(

And I have fibromyalgia and two permanently fucked up discs in my back. We knows from dealing with pain, ayup.

*rolls eyes* at the ER docs* Yeah, been there. My current GP just writes me scrips for painkillers whenever I ask for 'em, and doesn't bat a lash. If anything, she gets on me for not taking them often enough.

Great! Yeah, I never noticed passing my stone, but a certain point came and I improved rapidly, which is the good news. Hope you're at that point.

The pain scale is weird for that. I lose noticable functionality myself around my 6. I defined 8 is 'I'm puking from the pain.' But different people DO define it different ways, no doubt.

10 is, theoretically, 'the worst pain you can imagine'.

So of course, you'll get the wiseasses who immediately say '11!' whilst still slurping their soda.

If they say '11', they get the vicodins!

I hit 10 the day my teaching assistant picked me up off the floor and took me to the ER and I couldn't tell them how much it hurt. The rest of the time I had Ehd (The Evil Headache of Doom) it was generally between a 4 and 6. When it hit 7 is when one of my wonderful friends would drive me to the ER for drugs.

At a 4, I was somewhat distracted, but still able to work. At a 6, I sat in the corner of my classroom, and the students whispered and asked the aids for help.

By the time Ehd was averaging 1 - 2, I thought the world was a beautiful place again. Pain is strange.

I agree with many of the comments made so far. When you live with chronic pain, (as so many of us seem to do,) you learn to live with it and you don't always exhibit the pain the way others might think you would.

What really sucks is how many of us are in this boat.

You may have missed the stone, or it may have lodged itself. That's why mine lasted so long. If it lodges, the pain goes away, because it's no longer sliding down and trying to tear up your ureter in the process. Lots of fluids and maybe some drugs (specifically prostate medication) should get it going again.

Hopefully though, you just missed it. Either that or it dissolved. That apparently happens, and is apparently what happened with mine. *shrug*

Glad you're feeling better.

Also: what the above posters said re: chronic pain.
