I saw this in the 9th Moon's journal and really liked it. So I'm spreading the meme.

Say something nice about each of the last five people you've "broken
up with" - romantic break-ups, friendships, whatever.

*smiles* I feel kinda happy right now...cuz the last 5 people I can think of breaking up with (all 4 boyfriends and 1 friend--though in fairness, I only did the breaking up with half of the boyfriends, the other half dumped me...but that should make this harder, right?)...I'm on good terms with most of them, and they're good people. SO!!!

Leif (1st boyfriend): He's one of the most intelligent people I've ever met, and yet he never comes off as superior, haughty, mean, etc.

Brad (2nd boyfriend): Truly one of the most compassionate people I know, one of the only males I know whom I've seen cry out of sheer empathy, and one of the only people I know I could count on for a 3am I Need Someone phone call.

Sam (3rd boyfriend): Genuinely wants the world to be a better place, wants his role in this world to improve it, and yet is not so overly hopeful as to be naive or annoying, simply...hopeful.

Lissy (friend who did some nasty shit): Has an awesome habit of making you forget why you're unhappy in the first place (this might be because she smokes such copious amounts of pot that it exudes from her pores and you get a contact high from being in the same city as her), and she never fails to make me laugh. And her mouth looks like skis. >.>

Nick (4th boyfriend): One of the few True Romantics, and no one has ever treated me better than he did, even if his clinginess was too much for me to handle--that was an incompatibility, not a flaw. I hope he finds his Princess someday. He's an awesome Prince Charming.



There, 5 break ups. Does it still count, since I'm still on such great terms with some of them (i.e. Brad and Sam I still count among my best friends)? :P There was a break up and long negativity...

I just don't socialize much, which means I don't break up very often, be it friendships or romances. *shrug*

Of course it counts. I'm still on good terms with most of my exes, so this exercise was a lot easier for me than for some. But the point is to think positively about people. The angle means that for many of us it might not be people we're sued to thinking positively about.
