School days
Dec. 17th, 2008 11:01 pmLast month I took it into my head that I was going back to school *right now*. I wanted to work on getting my classes I already have converted into a degree--probably History or Political Science, since that's what I was majoring in.
There have been a few iterations of the plan. Iteration X-1 was to take one of the classes I've taken before and gotten an incomplete grade in, or to take some other academic course with the possibility of taking an online or television course. But after the last few weeks of work, and an indication of what work will look like going forward, I don't want to take a class with lots of work. I don't want to make my life harder, and I don't want to get burned out on school, work, life, and everything. And I'm looking at the ballroom classes and thinking "That would make me happy." And also, I'm not going to be able to take a class in Spring Term--too many gaps that I'd be away for.
But I'm concerned that this is just me trying to postpone going back to class, or making the changes I want to see in my life. And so, unable to sort out my own conflicting thoughts, I come to you. Am I lazy, or am I sane?

Date: 2008-12-18 01:41 pm (UTC)I'd take the dance _and_ something academic. That's how I survived most of college - no more than 4 engineering classes at a time, and at least one PE or music class each semester. In your situation, I'd make it a light academic to get back into the swing of things - something you enjoy and are relatively good at (so it'll be easy), but definitely something you need for your degree.

Date: 2008-12-18 05:05 pm (UTC)I don't want to try to take a class that requires homework and *not* leave myself days during the week to do homework, so that was why combining the two wasn't listed as an option.
