cyrano: (Genius)

Last month I took it into my head that I was going back to school *right now*. I wanted to work on getting my classes I already have converted into a degree--probably History or Political Science, since that's what I was majoring in.
There have been a few iterations of the plan. Iteration X-1 was to take one of the classes I've taken before and gotten an incomplete grade in, or to take some other academic course with the possibility of taking an online or television course. But after the last few weeks of work, and an indication of what work will look like going forward, I don't want to take a class with lots of work. I don't want to make my life harder, and I don't want to get burned out on school, work, life, and everything. And I'm looking at the ballroom classes and thinking "That would make me happy." And also, I'm not going to be able to take a class in Spring Term--too many gaps that I'd be away for.
But I'm concerned that this is just me trying to postpone going back to class, or making the changes I want to see in my life. And so, unable to sort out my own conflicting thoughts, I come to you. Am I lazy, or am I sane?

The dance class will be social, get your body moving, and give you the opportunity to meet like minded folk. We also always need more male dancers, particularly good male dancers. Dancing well gives you an automatic +2 charisma.

I would love to get back into dancing. Part of it would be that it evokes memories of an idyllic time in my life, and part of it is that I love dancing, the feel of my body moving through space when I know what I'm doing, the synergy of two people creating something beyond them, something ephemeral that only lasts as long as you focus.

*nods* Or in my case, let go. I'm domish by nature, but ballroom dancing is one area of my life that I just let go. When I was describing how a good rotary waltz with a strong lead makes me feel to a subbie, she said that feeling is very similar to sub-space.
