cyrano: (Bad Day)

I think Yahoo! has finally proven to me that it doesn't want to be my free web-based internet mail service. That or I've finally chosen to listen to it. Those of you still using the Yahoo! address, please feel free to start sending to cyranocyrano @t gmail d.t com
I will miss folders. I won't miss getting logged out randomly. I know it's not perfect, but it's perfecter.

You know, I thought I'd miss folders, but once I got the hang of "tag and archive" I really don't.

I may ask you for some pointers.
(The other thing I won't miss? Not being able to reply in-line.)

The biggest thing I've noticed is that life got easier when I stopped tagging by what it was and started tagging by what I want to do with it. (It's possible to do both; a given conversation can have multiple tags. I opt not to, because I keep long-term information in Evernote, which is where I tag it based on what it is.)

Thus, instead of "Server Admin" (which I was using for daily output from my servers, which is useless after a few days) I now have "Read Daily".

However, if you're just looking to make the transition with a minimum of fuss, set up labels that match your folders and move on with your life. I believe you can even set up Gmail to check your Yahoo account periodically (assuming Yahoo allows POP or IMAP access) to catch any messages from people who haven't gotten up to speed.
