Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. Thanks you.
On the way back from Whole Foods, driving past Baji's, it occurred to me that I ought to put together a California Bucket List, for things to do before I leave. And I think I'll slip that behind a LJ-cut.

EDIT:
These are pretty universally things I am inviting you to do with me. The people I'm leaving here are the main reason that I'm still in California at this point. Invite yourself. Or make suggestions and then invite yourself.

Whole Foods is not going to be an issue--I'll probably be there four times, like Farmer's Market .
Baji's.
Alcatraz (I still haven't been out there. Luckily, winter crowds are small.)
La Bamba. (mmm. Pupusas.)
La Fondue.
Kabul. (mmmm. Kadu.)
An afternoon with the ocean.
Jamba.
The San Francisco Observatory.
Las Pulgas Water Temple.
Watercourse Way.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
The Cliff House Museum for research.
All you can eat sushi night at Satsuma.
The Winchester Mansion grounds.
Someplace for Indian.
And Ethiopian.
And Chinese.
Ask lots of pretty women out.
Thai City. (mmmmm. Thom Kha and abusive waitstaff.)
Mr S.

Lots of food here. More stuff to be added as I remember it.

You should probably hit up the Afghan food too.

We have some good Thai here and some Ethiopian, but haven't tried the latter yet. I have a couple places written down that are supposedly good Indian food, but so far my experiences have not been so great.

I've had decent sushi in Michigan, but I think, given the distance from oceans, not a bad idea to hit it up, as you suggest. Oh, Dearborn has some fabulous middle eastern food (which makes sense when you learn about their demographics) but is not exactly close to where you'll be.

o dam. Of course Afghani. And I'm looking forward to finding what's good when I arrive. (: (I found a nice Jewish or Russian deli, and of course there's the German American place.)

The deli is Jewish. The German place is a hike, and Dearborn is about the same distance in the other direction (though there's good Middle Eastern closer than Dearborn). We do have sushi, and a couple of very nice Thai places. At one of them, I think I can get the waitress to be abusive to you, so you'll feel at home. Ethiopian isn't all that close, but it exists and it's good. Indian is hit or miss; we have a large Indian population, and thus we have a fair number of Indian restaurants, but some of them are clearly marketed for the non-Indian population.

Afghani is something I simply haven't run across here.

Yay! (And once we locate a good Indian restaurant, we can always use it as a launch platform.)

Winchester Mystery house, ohh and guess what is not on the east coast... I am not certain if they are out in the northern middle of U.S. But....

There is no:
See's Candy
Jamba Juice
Madame S
Mr. S

Pouts... I wish it were not so... but at least I can live vicariously through you.

I've been to Winchester Mansion a couple of times, but I haven't seen the gardens. So I ought to add that. Jamba and Mr. S definitely. I know Florida got a Jamba finally, but I haven't checked Michigan.
You'll have to live through me quickly. (:

I've never been to alcatraz either. Wanna go with me?

I would *love* to go with you. I've missed you. (I *will* miss you.)
I was considering combining this with a trip to Mr. S before I go--I don't know if you have any interest in that or not, but it can't hurt to mention it.

Mr S would be fun as well! When are you available?

I was talking to my friend Tess, who also expressed an interest, and we were thinking about Saturday the thirtieth. I promise not to let the group get any larger than four, mostly because I want to get some quality time hanging out with you. (:

I need to go to a friend's concert in the east bay at 7:30 on the 30th, but so long as we get an early enough start to our day, that day works for me! (And you are welcome to come to the concert with me as well.)

I've heard good things about Shiva in MV for Indian.

I'm thinking of going to Amber--they're expensive but I know I really like it and for 'one last time' I can probably afford to splurge a little.

That does sound good. When are we going?

I'm thinking a lunchtime gig, for the buffet.
Is that viable for you?

That is a possibility. What day are you thinking? Tuesday (or today, if we hurry) this week would work best for me. Next week is more open.
