Apparently the health care plan provides for the resurrection of Uncle Joe Stalin in Doctor Frankenstein's Secret DC Lab, based on the reactions to the passage of the tepid health care reform bill, and includes cab fare for him to get to the White House where he can finish installing the Communistic Fascistic Anarchic Regime that the past fourteen months have been preparing for him. That will give us two days before we begin feasting on Christian babies and providing some people with more health care.

The 101st Marching Typewriter Brigade is declaring secession and bloodshed, because this is the most apocalyptic thing to ever happen to this country since its separation from Pangaea. And I'm not actually exaggerating that much. Luckily, Obama's plan to grab everybody's guns and leave us armed with box cutters and knitting needles ran a little slow, and so they're ready to fight back.... by not turning in their census forms. That'll show us socialist bastards.

Hee. *hugs* You seem to actually be taking the hyperbole tongue in cheek, which strongly differentiates you from most of the reactions I've seen.

If I didn't laugh, I'd be curled up in a little ball in my big, comfy bed with my covers over my head.
Make no mistake, I think this is an awful turn of events for our country and culture.
But I can agree to disagree.

I can understand the disagreement. But I haven't seen this much over the top reaction since I last saw a James Cameron film. I just wish I was as elated by the turn of events as others are horrified, so I could balance it out, but... there's not that much here to elate over.

If there is one thing The Media is good at, it's over-reacting.

But speaking as one of the people who will be forced to pay through the nose both for my health insurance, and for The Poor's, this bill is a bad idea.

First, it will not fix the health insurance problem. That much is ragingly obvious. Second, it is going to snuff out any glimmer of an economic recovery. So, I hope you like Michigan.

The long term implications of this bill scare the shit out of me.

Unfortunately, very few people in Washington are interested in fixing the health care problem, because they get a lot of money from pharmaceutical companies, which are one of the largest components of said problem. This is not new, and this bill isn't going to change that situation. However, Detroit is very close to Canada, which has somehow managed to get some sort of perspective on the matter. Long, mostly unguarded border.
