Coyote Cinema: Easy A
Sep. 18th, 2010 10:23 pmFor some reason, I thought this had been out a while, but we caught it opening weekend. It's very funny, it doesn't challenge you too much (but there was one moment of genuine surprise), and it pays homage to the eighties teen flicks to which it is beholden. (Although Amanda felt that, as a tribute to Ferris Bueller, there should be a bit after the credits.) The soundtrack is much the same--pleasant to listen to, with lots of covers.
It really had a chance to say something about the gender binary around sex, and I'm sorry it didn't take a step or two further in that direction. But I'm a sucker for literary references and so I had fun.
