Ah! Good thing no one told me of such things when I had my pirate radio station and would frequently wander off while leaving an album on. :)
(It had a broadcast range of about to the end of the street I grew up on... which was a cul-de-sac. My listeners were the random neighborhood children, with an average age around 6-7. :) )
(A) That was probably legal. FCC begrudgingly allowed such small range broadcasts. We considered getting an antenna that would broadcast to the edge of the range of non-licensed broadcasts, and then getting a series of repeaters set up at perimeter. Technically legal but if they'd found it they probably would have confisticated it.
(B) Woo! Pirate Radio girl! You're even more awesome than I thought!
I think it's only awesome in that I had the station. I played a LOT of crap music (again, note the average listener age), but then would put on my one and only Oingo Boingo tape when I got bored. :) My dad set it up for all of us to goof around with, but I was the one who did it primarily, and I even brought in guest DJs (because I was in HS and had friends who could drive to my house :) ).
